Introducing the Presidential $1 Coin Program
The Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005, requires the issuance of $1 coins to commemorate the service of American presidents. The United States Mint will issue four Presidential $1 Coins each year, one for each former president, in the order of their service. The first of these coins, the George Washington $1 Coin, was issued February 15, 2007.
